| Environment |
As conscious human beings we all share the responsibility for environmental care, because present and future generations should not suffer but benefit from our
actions.
As responsible industrialists we recognize a particular and specific responsibility in relation to our business activities, we accept the following basic rules and we promise our best efforts to manage our operations accordingly and in line with economically viable best available technology, consistent with law and regulations.
|
| Organization and management |
Wire and Cablemakers will seek continuous improvements to reduce environmental
load.
To achieve this, a policy statement for the environment will be part of company strategy and implemented in the business plan. On a basis similar to Quality Assurance and Safety and Health of the workforce or as a part thereof, environmental management will be subject to a regular audit. Pollutive outlets will be quantified, registered, followed and managed for
reduction.
All employees will be trained regularly and encouraged to participate in environmental policy implementation.
|
| Communication and cooperation |
The Insulated Cable and Wire Industry recognizes it is positioned as a specific link in the business
chain.
Development of inter- and intra- industry conventions, protocols or alliances (particularly with suppliers and customers) will be needed to address environmental issues for which Cablemakers will accept the appropriate share of
responsibility.
Close and trustful cooperation with authorities, appointed to manage the public environmental interest is a condition to find responsible and balanced solutions.
|
| Production Processes, plant and factory operation |
Manufacturing equipment will be selected, installed andoperated, observing optimum conditions, treating environmental aspects on the same level as safety, quality. reliability and energy conservation. Factory scrap will be controlled and will be treated with preference for
recycling.
Waste material from whatever source will be dealt with in a responsible manner.
|
| Products, materials usage |
New products will be developed and designed with clean technology in mind, wherever possible applying materials and constructions that facilitate recycling and responsible disposal in line with the "cascade preference model". Use of potentially hazardous/environmentally risky materials will be limited and controlled. Efforts will be made to limit use of strategic raw materials particularly those in short supply.
|
| Distribution |
Cable and wire makers will use their best endeavours to package and distribute their products in an environmentally friendly manner, limiting use of unnecessary packaging and encouraging reusable/recyclable facilities.
|
| Confirmation |
European wire and cablemakers in national industry organizations have agreed to adopt this code of practice.
